Limit Your Sugar Intake

Sugar is found naturally in fruits, vegetables and even milk.

The sugar in these foods gives you energy.

These foods also have many other nutrients.

We need to limit pure sugars - white sugar, brown sugar, icing sugar, corn syrup, maple syrup,  molasses and honey.

One type of pure sugar is not better or worse than another.  These pure sugars give us calories we don't need and very little nutrition.  Such sugars are called "empty calories."

Sugars are added to most of our processed foods.  In fact, it is hard to find a food label without sugar on the ingredient list.

If sugar is the fist ingredient, it means the food has more sugar than anything else.  Try to limit foods that have a lot of added sugar.
